I had always hoped...
I had always hoped this was the case.
My family spending summers in #Japan has been great for my children's #language skills. They always come home more fluent and eager to use #Japanese .
This year came with a bonus from two of the teachers that had my oldest in their English class.
šØ Proud Parent Moment Incoming Do not read if that makes you cringe! šØ
They sent this note home the other day.
It seems that MAYBE, just MAYBE...
the other students got something out of it too.
A little more exposure to "natural" Native speaker English while he was there. It shouldn't really come as a surprise. It makes sense.
But I had always thought of it in terms of what MY children were getting out of it. What a tremendous favor THEY were doing us.
It turns out that MAYBE, just MAYBE my children are giving a little back. Adding a little something to the OTHER student's experience at school.
And that makes me happy. š

Dear Mr. Brown and Mrs.----------,---- did well during his time at --------- --------- Junior High. He both participated enthusiastically in class activities and did a good job on his presentation on an animal on the -----------------.
During his presentation he made a good effort to control the speed of his speech in order for the other students to understand him and to make sure that he explained any word or phrases that he felt where not understood by his fellow students.
Overall, over the past three weeks that he was with us he provided an example of natural English and helped provide motivation for the other students to improve their English especially their spoken English. His presence at our school gave the other students a wonderful experience with the ability to communicate with --- in a casual setting.
Thank you very much for helping to provide many precious memories for everyone.July 5th, 2024His English teachers at ---------- --------- JHS,
